“I am a registered Counselling Psychologist. In my counselling work, I use a mix of Solution-focussed, Feed-back Informed, Mindfulness, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Cognitive-behavioural Therapy and Person-centred approaches. The use of the Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) and the Session Rating Scale (SRS) is an important part of my practice. My initial training was in Narrative Therapy and the values and philosophy of Narrative still greatly impact my work. The pluralistic www-arc framework developed on the Massey University Masters of Counselling programme also strongly influences my work. I am currently studying Narrative Coaching. These ways of working help to form the basis of how I work with supervisees.
I am interested in the emerging field of Deliberate Practice and what it has to offer for counselling supervision, and am currently studying with Daryl Chow, one of the pioneers in this leading edge approach.
I am available for clinical supervision for counsellors and psychologists.
I am also available for supervision, in the sense of ‘super-vision’ – that is, to stand back with you to find useful perspectives, and/or a strategic view on issues you bring to work on, for other health professionals, teachers, veterinarians and managers. These ‘crows-nest’ or ‘vision from a different perspective’ conversations enable staff in positions of responsibility to gain perspective and take a strategic approach to both their professional life, and the balance between their professional and personal lives.
These sessions are not ‘a cup of tea and a chat’. For counselling supervision, expect to identify your goals for your own development and regularly check in on these, and to disscuss and reflect on the cases in which you are making little progress, as well as work that is going well. For supervision for other health professionals, teachers, veterinarians and managers, expect to identify clear goals for your supervision with me overall, in addition to setting clear goals for each time we meet. I will work with you to help you gain clarity and to know how you will proceed with the topics you bring to supervision.”
